No-fault Car Insurance In Ontario
Ontario has a No-fault Car Insurance System that ensures that all parties can deal with their own car insurance provider regardless of who is deemed at fault. Even if the law determines that no one is at fault and no charges should be pressed, car insurers still have a system of assigning fault with the use of “Fault Determination Rules”. This allows car insurance Ontario providers to deal with accident claims much faster and in a more economically sound manner. This means that if you rear-end someone else’s car on a slippery road and the police determines that no one is at fault, the person in the other car can make a claim at their own insurance provider instead of looking for you to pay for claims. You can also make claims of your own as well. However the Fault Determination Rules will apply and can affect your premiums the next time out if you are deemed at fault. The advantage is though that if there are uninsured parties in your car as well, then your insurance can also cover them.
