The Public Opinion Health Care Reform Fight
Without question, health care reform stands to impact the earnings of many businesses. While some businesses will gain, others will certainly lose. Such financial losses are not simply the result of being paid less for services. A portion of reforming the national health care system in the United States requires accountability, which many businesses fear the most. Because of this fear, and the special interest groups that dominate the health care industry, a public opinion war is being waged as I type.
This page does a good job describing how Fox News is helping to spread the message of those that oppose health care reform and the accountability it requires. But with tens of millions of Americans without health insurance, it will be extremely difficult to influence their opinions since they have no access to affordable health care.
As you probably know, the US Supreme Court will be hearing challenges to the health care reform law this year. As we get closer to these hearings, more special interest motivated media reports are sure to hit the air in an effort to influence the populace. Fortunately, most people have enough common sense to see through the special interest messages and can easily determine what is motivating them. When it comes to health care reform, money and greed are the primary interests of most large corporations and not the health of ordinary Americans.
